Last Weekend - Busy!
Friday night, we went to a new friend’s (also named Mike) birthday party at “Apartment 24” club downtown. It was gorgeous inside, and had a bar backdrop of the city. [Photo 1]
Saturday, we spent the whole morning and afternoon picking up/moving/installing new furniture Mandy & Lauren found on wholesale in Oakland. I thought I was done with the moving thing! but they got some great stuff.
Late in the day, Derrik and I went mountain biking from the city to Marin. I took a good spill on the bike going down the mountain and besides a bruised arm, it was totally worth it! Mandy and Lauren met us at Pelican Inn [Photo 2] for dinner and drinks. It’s an awesome English bed & breakfast place, that they built from materials from England to keep the true feel. It’s a great place to go!
On Sunday, we left first thing from SF to Capitola Beach in Santa Cruz [Photo 3]. The tempature when we left SF was 75, we watched it rise to 95 as we got away from the coast, and as we came over the mountain, watched it fog up and drop down to 58! Luckily, the beach was in a sweet spot, with no fog and perfect temp, probably 75-80.
Great weekend!
Blogging Expectations
So, It’s much harder to maintain a blog, when you have a job…and a new city with lots to do.
I’m thinking I’ll shoot for Sunday/Wednesday updates.

Last weekend was awesome. I was invited in on a bachelor party to (North) Lake Tahoe. Tahoe is gorgeous! …Did mountain biking (my first time), beach volleyball, frisbee golf, and casino. All went great, guys were really cool, and I won $270 at the casino! ($50 at Blackjack and $220 on Craps) I didn’t bring a camera, so I’m still working on getting pics and will post on FB.
I just returned from an awesome date dinner with my Beautiful wife, where we went to a small French restaurant that we’ll for sure return to. OK, enough Internet, back to spending time with my Wifoo!
Getting behind in Blogging
I’ll try to catch up sometime…but today, we slept in, then started unpacking the kitchen boxes. The picture above is of the NEW granite countertops just installed. New cabinets are still 1-2 weeks away.
After that, I walked to the corner market for some chips & dip to go with our lunch and later went to the corner Tailor to get some suits altered for work next week. Now we’re about to walk to an Asian Fusion restaurant for dinner.
I love how close everything is!
PS. Mandy met her first real SF hill last night walking to dinner, and although wasn’t happy with it, she made it! Haha : )
Blog Update
Been a while since my last post..
Flying to SF Sunday AM-Tuesday PM for a job interview. I’m really confident about this one.
Had dinner last night with my lovely wife at Johnny Carino’s. The place of our first date. I Love her, and I love that Chocolate cake!
Had dinner tonight with one of my best friends, Chad. It was really good to catch up (has been too long).
Even though I’m unemployed, I’ve been CRAZY busy selling stuff in our house on Craigslist and trying to get the last of the shoe shop on ebay.
One week left, time to start packing!!
Job Search Update
I had an interview with the HR person at Kaiser Permanete yesterday, that I absolutely bombed. I mean, really, so terrible.
Then had a 1st interview with a recruiter today for a job at First Republic Bank, and absolutely crushed it. I mean, really, so great!
Weekend trip
Mandy & I are about to leave to Greensboro for our friends Lauren & Derrik’s wedding.
Friday AM - Golf with the guys (it’s been a long time since I’ve even swung a club, so this should be interesting. My Dad would say “you PAY to do that??”)
Friday night - Rehearsal Dinner, Saturday - Wedding
PS - A big THANKS to Jackie and George for doggie sitting!!
PSS - Lauren & Derrik are our friends from SF, so talking with them will get us even more juiced, if that’s possible.
My new bike for SF!
I found it on REI on-line and they are sending it to my local REI store. I get to pick it up on the 22nd…which doesn’t leave me a lot of test time before the SF hills!
Happy Mother’s Day!
My parents came to visit for the weekend. We finished the repairs needed for the home sale, drank wine, and spent quality time together. It was a great weekend!
If you know my Mom, you know that you don’t need to fret about what the next meal’s going to be. She’s had it planned before you woke up, and it’s going to be a great meal. So, instead, I made her a Mother’s day breakfast: French Toast with fresh Strawberries and Bananas, Bacon, Sausage, Cinnamon Rolls, OJ and Coffee
Breakfast was a really good! So good in fact, Boomer (my 6 inch tall pup) managed to somehow get on the 3FT high table, to eat the left over cinnamon rolls while we were at church!
4Runner is sold. Literally, not in my possession.
Another weird feeling, like being unemployed, to add to the adventure of moving X-country.
I think Mandy’s feeling it too. So excited to go, but also feeling some emotions of people/things/etc we will miss.
But, I have NO doubt it is the right thing for us to do!
Two appointments
I’m unemployed. I only have one thing to do tomorrow. A Dentist appointment at 10:15am (don’t worry I still have medical benefits).
I called the unemployment office to start receiving $ (your tax dollars, thanks!) next week.
It’s an automated program, but at the end of the call, they say I need to speak with an agent to complete my application.
Automated Voice: “Are you available Tuesday May 4th from 10-11, to take the call?”
Me: “No” (Dentist Appointment)
Automated Voice: “Well, that’s the only time available and it’s extremely important that you talk to someone to complete your application.”
“Can you be available on Tuesday May 4th from 10-11?”
Me: *laugh*
Automated Voice: “Great, I have you scheduled”
